The Skinny

Well as usual that happened quickly.   The water came and went and now we are in what looks to be the dog days of summer.   With nearly all the snow melt gone the river has dropped considerably.  There is still good water for floating currently.  But things are getting a little skinny, taking the right line is important to not hit rocks.  With high day and night time temps water temperatures are getting warm by mid day so early on early off has been the moto.  We enjoyed some great cool weather and some incredible fishing up until this point.  The fishing is still quite good in the mornings, but slows up when water temperatures get above 65.

Bugs to float: Chubbys, hoppers caddis

Bugs to pull:  Buggers(Thin mints, olive and black) Articulated streamers(goldie, rusty trombone)

Bugs to drift:  Worms, eggs, midges(rs2, mayhem),stoneflies(pat’s, doublebeed)prince, hares ear, pts, and copper johns
