Upper North Platte

The Skinny

It is full on winter!  The river is frozen with verry limited open water.

Bugs to float: Good luck!

Bugs to pull:   Thin Mints, olive buggers, orange blossom special, rusty trombone, peanut envy

Bugs to drift:  Stoneflies (pat’s to princes) Midges (zebra, mayhems, ju ju) Caddis(birds nest, soft hackles, graphic caddis, prince nymph)Tricos ( RS2, SBT (small black things)) annelids(rock and san juan worms) BWO (phesant tails, RS2)

 

Miracle Mile 500ish cfs

The Skinny

The Mile is fishing but access remains limited due to the amount of snow we have gotten this year.  If you head to the Mile I would suggest letting people know where you are going and have a solid 4wd vehicle and I would advise throwing a set of chains in just in case.  That being said if you can get in there the fishing is on point.  The fish are hungry midge hatches are producing fish on bugs.

Bugs to pull:   Thin Mints, spiders, goldee etc big bugs seem to be working best on the SWING

Bugs to drift:  Midges (zebra, mayhems, ju ju)  annelids( rock and san juan worms)  scuds(tan, olive, orange), leeches and eggs……
